IMPORTANT DATE CHANGE!
Grandparents’ Day IS Thursday, March 2, 2017!
Grandparents are important to us and to our students! Due to the overwhelming response to our last Grandparents’ Day and growth in our enrollment this year we need to move Grandparents’ Day to March 2, 2017. This move allows us to accommodate our grandparents in Schirmer Auditorium on the main campus. Grandparents will still visit classrooms and enjoy time with their grandchildren. Thank you for your understanding! Please fill out this form for your child’s grandparents whom you would like to be invited. Note – this is an invitation request form only, to be filled out by the parent. This is not an RSVP confirmation; invitations will be sent to grandparents. Please visit www.kingsschools.org/grandparents – the deadline to complete your form has been extended to Dec 2, 2016.
Thank You, Second Grade Gardeners!
The Green Beans we had for our Thanksgiving feast on Tuesday, November 22 were provided by our Second Grade Gardens and prepared by our wonderful kitchen staff. They were delicious!
Thank You, Parent Council!
Thank you, Ann Faris and Julie Williams for decorating the office and display case for Christmas! The decorations are absolutely beautiful!
As winter approaches you might want to check out our KING5 WeatherBug Station that is located on top of our intermediate building. Just click on the link and see the southern sky which includes a peek at the CRISTA Administrative Building and the CRISTA Media Radio Tower. Current school conditions and the forecast are included on the website. King’s Elementary has been a member of the WeatherBug Network for many years. We were one of the first reporting stations that included a camera in Western Washington. You can also see our school listed on the bottom of your television screen while the King5 News is on throughout the day and evening!
Vacations During School
King’s Elementary values educational excellence. The instruction your students receive everyday by outstanding, quality teachers reflect that process. The challenging curricular instruction with Math, Reading, Writing, Spelling and Grammar, Science, Social Studies, Bible and Specialists, cannot be replicated outside the classroom through make-up work. When your children miss a day of school, they are missing critical concepts that build on one another providing a solid foundation of learning. We would ask that you carefully consider not taking vacations during academic teaching time but instead plan your trips as much as possible during regularly scheduled breaks on the school calendar.
King’s Auction Amazon Wish List
As you are enjoying the holiday sights and sounds along with Christmas shopping, the auction team has listed a few always popular items if you want to ask your favorite local store owner or purchase an item not on the Amazon Wishlist.
Unique, one-of-a-kind experiences

We hope you enjoy this most wonderful time of the year!
SCRIP During the Holidays
The holidays are approaching fast and it is a great time to take advantage of using SCRIP for all of your shopping and gift giving. Please refer to the Parent Calendar so that you know when the order deadlines and pick up dates are. The calendar is located on the King’s website in the parent section under SCRIP.
If your child owns a pair of shoes with “wheelies”, please remind them that they may be worn at school, but the wheels are not to be used while on our campus.
Box Tops for Education
Save your box tops and bring them to the Elementary Library or Office.
You can access the sideline store to order King’s wear anytime at: http://sideline.bsnsports.com/schools/washington/shoreline/kings-high-school
Annual Magazine Renewal and New Subscription Event If you would like to renew or subscribe to new magazines for the coming year, we are once again offering an online portal for your convenience. A portion of each order will go to our school and be used for curriculum enrichment at the elementary. Just go to the website for a list of selections. The website is available 365 days a year for your convenience! If you have any questions, please contact the school office and Mr. Kelly will provide assistance.
Any change in student pick-up at the end of the day needs to go through the office. This is the only way to be sure your student gets the message. If you send an email to the teacher, he/she may not be available to respond due to teaching students. Please Call Mrs. de Langen or Miss Soriano at 206-546-7258.
Emails and/or Phone Messages
Our school policy is that emails or phone messages from parents will be returned by the end of the next business day. Messages received on Fridays will be returned on Mondays.
Carpool Confusion at Drop-Off?
Happy to clarify for you!
- Students should NEVER be dropped off anywhere on either side of Dayton Ave. N.
- Students should be dropped off INSIDE the carpool area.
Lunch with Your Children
Parent seating space at lunchtime is limited. Please wait until ALL students are seated to see if there is adequate space for you. You may end up kneeling or standing by your child! Thank you!
Moms in Prayer Time
All are welcome to join in the prayer group on Wednesday mornings at 8:30am upstairs in the intermediate building. Drop ins are welcome if you cannot make every Wednesday. Please sign in at the office upon arrival.
