King’s Garden Gym Car Pool
Thank you to the many families who have made our carpool drop-off and pick-up run so smoothly for this first week of school.  Please remember to pull up as far as you can when dropping off your student in the morning (even if it is not right in front of the building you prefer) in order to keep the traffic off the streets.  Having your student ready to jump out quickly will also help the speed of the line.  We appreciate all of your help!

Fall Family Series
Our first of the family series this year will be a parent seminar on September 28 at 7pm in the High School Learning Commons.

Achieving Greatness in Family Dynamics: How to Secure the Best Predictors of Success for Kids
Do you want to know the keys to offering your kids a solid foundation for better grades, more responsible behavior, strong mental health, and great relationships? Hint: it’s not how often you check Ren Web. Come find out how you can be the greatest influence of success for your kids in every area of their lives.

Those in attendance to a similar presentation last spring asked for more and those who missed out asked to have another opportunity to hear this fabulous presentation.  Heather Sund will be joined with a team from Navigate Family Therapists to present this invaluable information.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Carnival Tickets
Attached is the form to pre-order tickets for your student to attend the carnival on Sept. 22.
You can send in completed forms with money to the Jr. High office.

MAPS Testing
During the week of Sept. 18 – 22, your student will take tests called Measures of Academic Progress (MAP).  We give students MAP tests to determine your child’s instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year, and from year to year in the areas of English and math.  Your child will take the tests on a computer.

MAP tests are unique in that they adapt to be appropriate for your child’s level of learning.  As a result, each student has the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude toward testing.  With MAP tests, we can administer shorter tests and use less class time.  The testing is administered during your student’s English and math classes and during the course of a full school year, your student will take both the English and the math tests.
