Please come and support the King’s High School orchestra class and enjoy a repertoire of classical music to include La Damoiselle Elue (The Blessed Damozel).

The Sophomore Class Council has created a class of 2020 t-shirt available for $25.00 per shirt. All proceeds will go towards the Spring Dance. Order forms will be available in the lounge from October 31st to November 3rd and are also attached here. Order forms are due by November 3rd and WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ORDERS AFTER THIS DATE. Cash, credit cards or checks are all accepted. Questions? Please email Caroline Baker [email protected] or Junia Paulus [email protected]

There will be no order placed on Monday November 6th or Monday November 20th due to school being out of session later those weeks. Be sure to get your orders in on other deadlines to stock up on cards. We will sell SCRIP TO GO (a limited variety of cards in inventory) on the 6th and 20th from 8:15 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. if you need to stop by and stock up, or you can send the form in to the SCRIP drop box with your check. You can find the SCRIP TO GO form at www.kingsschools.org/parent/scrip-program. Forms turned in by Monday at 8:15 a.m. will be filled – inventory permitting – and available for pick up later that day.

As we move into the holiday season, please be aware that there will be some weeks that we do not have any order deadlines or fill dates for physical cards. You will find these dates on the King’s calendar. Please plan your SCRIP purchases accordingly. SCRIPNOW and Reloads are available any time when paying with Presto Pay.

Thank You!
Thank you to everyone who took the time pack a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child. If you would still like to participate, it’s not too late! Bring your filled shoebox directly to Mrs. Archer on Monday. It won’t get counted for the competition, but it will still provide hope to a child in desperate need. In chapel last week, we heard Alina Aisina’s story of receiving a shoebox as a child and the profound impact that had on her life. Here is the video link if you would like to watch the full interview: https://sp.box.com/s/w3ylznti361j81n4zjg1rehmokmw0vri. Next Wednesday, November 1st, we will be having a “Christmas Party” from 3:15 to 4:45 in the Bundrant Ness Center, Room 205, to check the shoeboxes and pack them in their shipping containers. Mrs. Archer is looking for 3 parent volunteers to help provide treats and 35 student volunteers to check the boxes. Service hours are available! Come for some cookies and Christmas music as we pray over the boxes and get them ready to send. Contact Mrs. Archer to sign up [email protected].

The website for the King’s Tutoring program is here! On this website, you can sign up to be tutored or, to be a tutor. After downloading the form, copy and paste it, and send to [email protected]. Here is the link: http://kingsstudoring.org.

Mission Trips
Today during Chapel, we introduced the 2018 mission trips to our students. This year we have four trips planned for spring break and three trips planned for next summer. Brief information about each trip can be found on the application available here. More detailed information will be presented at the free Mission Breakfast scheduled for Saturday, November 4th at 8:00 a.m. in the Learning Commons for students and their parents. Trip leaders will be available to answer questions and provide details on each trip.

Elf – The Musical
The King’s High School Advanced Drama Freshman Class will be performing Elf-The Musical Jr. on December 7, 8, 9 and 10. Tickets will go on sale through brownpapertickets.com on November 10.  Ticket prices range from $8 for economy seats to $18 for Prime seating.  A limited amount of tickets will be sold at the door on each event date so get your tickets early. For more information regarding tickets, please contact Mrs. Hudon, Performing Arts Coordinator at [email protected].

Attention Parents of Boys Basketball Players
There is a mandatory parent meeting for any parents of a boy who is trying out for basketball this year. The meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5, in the High School Learning Commons (formerly known as the Library). Please make every effort to attend the meeting to learn more about the program and the tryout process.

Important Final Exam Information
End-of-semester final exams are scheduled for Monday, November 6th and Tuesday, November 7th. School is dismissed at 12:30 on November 7th and there is no school on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Final exams need to be taken on the day and time scheduled.  Students are not permitted to take early or late finals except in cases of illness or exceptional circumstances.  Exceptions must be pre-approved by the principal.  Family vacations do not constitute exceptional circumstances.  Non-approved absences result in a “0” grade on the final exam.  During final exams, students are required to be in classes like regular school days.  The regular school attendance policy will apply to all absences. For planning purposes, the end-of-term final exams are scheduled for January 24, 25 and 26.

Attendance Appeals
If you have received notification that your student has exceeded the number of allowable absences and you wish to appeal those absences, “Attendance Appeal” forms are available from Mrs. Kelly. The deadline to appeal absences for this semester is Friday, November 17th. Appeals received after the deadline will not be considered. You can find the KHS Attendance Policy in the KnightGuide.
