King’s Holiday Show Continues Tradition of Preparing Emerging Leaders

Students, parents, alumni and the local community are invited to come and get your holiday shopping done early. With the largest group of DECA students in King’s history and more than 75 booths, you’re guaranteed to find a treasure… and you can take it all home gift wrapped!

DECA’s annual Holiday Show is taking place on Tuesday, November 14th from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at King’s Garden Gym 19400 Greenwood Ave. N, Shoreline, WA 98133.

More than half the booths feature local businesses while the rest are filled with products by emerging, student entrepreneurs.  Popular brands such as Funko, GlassyBaby, and See’s Candy will be featured, and unique handcrafted gifts including candles, caramels and holiday decorations will be available. Dick’s Burgers, Wow Wow Hawaiian Lemonade and other local restaurants and services will also have a presence, along with fun experiences including a henna booth, photo booth and ring toss.

DECA students chose either to partner with a local business or to make and market their own products. Both options enable students to maximize learning through hands-on experience. At the Holiday Show, goods will be traded in DECA dollars, with the exception of business partners that chose to donate one hundred dollars and keep their proceeds. All proceeds will help fund DECA competitions starting in January as well as other DECA activities. DECA is dedicated to giving students real-life business experience and preparing emerging leaders for real-world problems.

Annika Ruud, a beginning marketing student, said, “When businesses partner with students, it bridges a gap between professionals and kids who are inexperienced but ready to learn. Professional business owners can teach us valuable skills important to our ability to sell products.” Bridging this gap creates a connection between schools and the community around them. Students gain real world experiences that can help them throughout life.

Building on the popularity of past Holiday Shows, a crowd of over 1,000 shoppers of all ages is expected. If you’d like more information about this event, or to secure a booth for your business, please contact Mrs. Morris at 206-546-7241 or email at
