KHS Mock Trial Takes Back District Championship Title

by Joanne Yi, Marketing Intern

Last week, two King’s Mock Trial teams traveled to Snohomish County for the District Mock Trial Competition. Excitement and tension hung in the air, as a total of 8 teams competed from 6 different schools, the King’s teams eager to take back the Districts Championship. The first round began on Thursday with the teams returning on Sunday for the final three rounds.

King’s came out on top with successful achievements from both teams and numerous King’s students receiving individual awards! Team One won first place, with Duncan Anguili winning Best Witness Overall and Cody Huyan winning Best Attorney Overall. Also from Team One, five other members were nominated for the honor of Best Attorney and Best Witness. Closely following trail, Team Two placed fourth in the competition with four nominations for Best Witness and Best Attorney.

It was a fun weekend for the Knights, as the students were able to cheer on and support one another, watching all the countless hours, dedication and energy poured into their crosses, directs and testimonies really shine on the Mock Trial court. Many parents came out to support the Mock Trial teams along with visits from Principal Ruhlman and English Teacher Mr. Jablon showing what a positive and supportive community King’s has.

After the rigorous and long weekend, the Mock Trial teams enjoyed a victory dinner meal at Midici’s and a night of socializing, eating and team-bonding. They will now turn their focus to the Mock Trial State Competition in Olympia on March 23-25.

We are proud of our Knights Mock Trial teams! They did an extraordinary job of representing King’s at the District Competition. We wish them the best of luck as they proceed into the year!
