Hygiene Kit Drive
Our Jr. High Spirit Council, with the help of Mrs. Haslam, ran a hygiene kit drive last week for Washington Kids in Transition, an organization that provides a variety of goods and services to homeless students in the Edmonds School District. This was a terrific opportunity for our students to reach out and bless teens their same age who are living in their communities. One of the goals was for our students to try to put themselves into someone else’s shoes or to try to see life through the lens of someone who does not have the privilege to attend King’s. The students really rallied behind this effort! In all, they collected:

  • 28 sticks of deodorant for boys
  • 102 sticks of deodorant for girls
  • 121 tooth brushes
  • 84 bottles of shampoo or conditioner
  • 75 tubes of tooth paste
  • 136 bars of soap
  • 27 boxes of tampons
  • 37 packages of sanitary napkins
  • They also received a random assortment of travel sized things that are not included in the counts.

The items were delivered this week.

Track starts April 11
Please make sure your student is registered on line if they are planning to participate in track this spring.  If they are already registered because they were in a sport earlier this year, you do need to make sure you have signed them up for track on the website as well.  Please go to www.registermyathlete.com to sign up.  Track practices will be each day after school, and students can be picked up at 4:45 down at Mike Martin Gym.
