Beating records and defending state titles make this Fall’s sports season that much more exciting! Now that the teams are halfway through their seasons, here’s a quick update on how they are doing so far. Go Knights!
This past weekend, King’s High School held its 12th King’s Invitational where 15 teams raced over one of the toughest 3 mile courses in Washington State to test their early season determination. Junior Naomi Smith won with a time of 18:01 and broke the course record! Naomi Smith is now ranked 6th in the state of Washington over all classifications. Smith led the girl’s team to their first team title since 2013. This Saturday, September 29th, the King’s Cross Country team will travel to Marysville to compete against 65 of the best teams from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Canada at the Twilight Invitational.
The defending 1A State Champions are off to a great start! Girl’s Soccer is 4-0 in the North Sound Conference and 6-1 overall. Catch Girl’s Soccer at their next home game Tuesday, October 2nd against Coupeville!
The Volleyball team is also off to a great start being undefeated in conference! They are 5-1 overall. With seven key returners and six strong additions to the roster, the girls are looking to defend their state title in November. The team has a big weekend coming up as they travel to Spokane to compete against top 3A and 4A teams in the Linda Sheridan Volleyball Classic.
After facing some tough opponents in their first four games, the football team will have a fresh start tonight against Coupeville. The team has two more home games left, one on October 5th against Granite Falls and one on October 19th which is also Senior Night and Alumknight!
