Community Service Survey

KHS is taking a fresh look at student requirements for community service and we need your input!  Please take a moment to complete this brief, 6 question survey.  Thank you!

Winter Clothing Drive

There will be a Winter Clothing Drive ‪from February 11th through February 22nd, collecting items for the Bridge Care Center which distributes the donations to men and women experiencing homelessness in the greater Seattle area. We will be collecting coats, gloves, socks, hats, hand warmers, sleeping bags, thermal underwear, blankets, etc. This will be a competition between 1st block classes, so the two classes that collect the most donations will receive doughnuts for their whole class. Also if you are someone who finds it easier to order online, the Bridge Care Center has an amazon wish list which you can order off and it will be sent directly to the center. (https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/13HOE46KXR87J/ref=cm_go_nav_hz) If you order online but still want to contribute points to your class just print a screenshot of the order and put it in the collection boxes.

Career Day: Thursday, February 21

Next Thursday we will be hosting Career Day!  This is an opportunity to investigate career paths and interests that might match an individual’s gifting and to hear from professionals in the community.  With over 20 different professionals visiting our campus this day, we are confident each student will find two he/she will enjoy hearing. We have asked our guests to speak about the journey from high school to where they are now, more than the ins and outs of their current career. We have asked them to consider what their strengths are that allow them to thrive in their particular career. Figuring out one’s strengths early on can help build more satisfying careers. To help students think about this as well we encourage them  to take this online strengths survey: https://www.viacharacter.org/survey/classes/Register?classCode=KHS (no student number required). This survey is quick and gives lots to think about in regard to how a person sees and interacts with the world around him/her. These strengths are a great place to start when thinking about careers you may be interested in pursuing.

Thursday will be Chapel schedule. Class will be dismissed at 9:25 for students to attend one session from 9:35 – 9:55 and another from 10:05 – 10:25.  Details about our guests and room assignments will come out next week.  We are looking forward to a fabulous event!
