Help us care for our community

Dear King’s Families,

This is a challenging time for all of us and we are grateful for the many provisions God has provided for the King’s community.  Sadly, there are students that live in our neighborhoods that are struggling with not only how to continue with their education, but with getting enough food to eat.  These are students that rely on a free breakfast and lunch programs at their schools.  Most of these programs are continuing at local schools.

What a lot of people don’t know is that these students also rely on a “weekend backpack” which includes food to help get them through the weekend.  The Nourishing Network is the champion of this effort in the Edmonds School District.

We would like to support the Nourishing Network and families in need with a food drive.  This will begin with our own families.  If you, or someone you know could benefit from some assistance please reach out to your school principal. Below is a list of the types of food that are needed, as well as a link to a video that introduces the work of the Nourishing Network.  You may have some of these items at home already or they could be added to your list for your next trip to the grocery store. Please consider having your student write a note of encouragement to these children and their families.

We will be accepting donations on March 27th  from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. in the Elementary School parking lot.  The drop off options will comply with social distancing requirements.

Our hope is that you will watch the video with your student and involve them in this opportunity to care for our community during a time of great need.

Thank you,

Eric Rasmussen
