King’s Speech and Debate

The Speech and Debate team is off to a great start!

They competed at the Bear Creek Invitational two Saturdays ago, and received 1st place of 10 teams! This makes the 13th consecutive 1st place team finish at the Open (Varsity) level. Awards were won in:

Open Dramatic Interp: Victoria Smith—1st
Open Extemporaneous: Jay Jang–1st, Dalton Schwab—3rd
Novice Extemporaneous: Keenan Schott—1st
Open Humorous Interp: Nick Yi—3rd, Zach Hochstein—Finalist
Open Impromptu: Victoria Smith—1st, Jay Jang—2nd
Novice Impromptu: Lincoln Going—3rd
Open Informative: Catherine Jones—Finalist
Novice Informative: Emily Lindblad—2nd
Open Oratory: Elizabeth Anderson—2nd

Additionally, several King’s novices (first-year competitors) competed at the Online Novice Scrimmage last weekend, receiving 1st place among novice squads! Trophy winners included:

Clare Williams– 1st Place Dramatic Interp
Keenan Schott– 1st Place Extemp
Ben Bullock– 2nd Place Humorous Interp
Macey Newton– 3rd Place Impromptu
Emily Wang– 2nd Place Informative

Congratulations to our first-year winners, and all students who have been able to compete in this new and challenging season.

King’s will be bringing 31 students to compete at the Interlake Invitational on Halloween! Wish the team luck as they strive to extend their winning streak to 14 tournaments!
